Welcome to Shabbat!
YAHUAH'S rest and blessing
is upon you once again!
Yeshua says of the Sabbath,
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27
The Sabbath is one of the blessings God made for mankind to enjoy.
He practiced it Himself on the seventh day of creation.
Was God tired? No — God created it as a gift to man, animals and the land.
A day, 24 hours, of no work — to most people that is a luxury.
Let us enter into His blessing even now.
Isaiah 58:13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of Yahuah honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in Yahuah;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of Yahuah has spoken.”
There is no direct commandment to “kindle the Sabbath lights.”
This is an ancient Jewish tradition based on relevant verses regarding the Shabbat and Israel’s purpose to “be a light” (i.e. bring Torah) to the nations.
It is almost certain that Messiah Yeshua watched his mother kindle the Sabbath lights every 'Friday' night or Erev Shabbat.
What a wonderful example we have! He said, "I am the Light of the world." (John 8:12) and later He said, "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 6:14-16)
LIGHTING THE CANDLES TO WELCOME SHABBAT: (woman of the home)
Blessed are You, YAHUA our God, King of the universe, Who sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to be a light to the nations, and Who gave to us Yeshua our Messiah the Light of the world.

BIRKAT HAMAZON (prayer of thanksgiving, man of the home)
“When you have eaten and are satisfied, Praise YAHUAH your God for the good land He has given you.” Deuteronomy8:10
When the meal and fellowship have ended, before the guests leave or the family retires for the evening, it is customary to offer a final prayer of Thanksgiving for the good things YAHUAH has provided. Some choose the traditional prayer below, others simply bring thanks to YAHUAH from the overflow of their heart.
English Translation (short form):
Blessed are you, YAHUAH our God, King of the universe, Who nourishes the whole world in goodness, with grace, kindness, and compassion. He gives bread to all flesh, for His mercy endures forever. And through His great goodness we have never lacked, nor will we lack food forever, for the sake of His great Name. For He is God, who nourishes and sustains all, and does good to all, and prepares food for all His creatures which He created. Blessed are You, YAHUAH our God, who nourishes all. AMEN
