O God, Lord of all…..how easily we miss the mighty deeds You carefully do;
deeds designed to show us Your glory!
You rise up and we miss Your rising!
You answer our prayers, but the answers don’t look familiar to us,
so we miss them.
Forgive us, O Lord, for this has been our story since we left the Garden.
Forgive us, O Lord, for assuming that we are God.
Forgive me, O Lord, for this is my story, too.
My thoughts and blessings and prayers go to our President, Donald Trump.
Everyone is aware of the evil backlash against him….a backlash that is
completely unprecedented in the history of the United States.
Has anyone asked the question: Why?….Why is this happening?
Oh, yes…..we go to pat answers of personality, background, looks, tactics,
and all the rest. But all of those are rabbit trails, aren’t they?
What is the truth?
Why this unreasonable, unconscionable, unrealistic, uncontrollable,
illogical, inconsolable, vicious, backlash against this man?
Why?
Could it be that he is Your man?
Could it be that the backlash is really aimed at You?
Could it be that this President who has made more clear and open statements for You
than any other President….is Your loving answer to our heartfelt prayers….
the bramble bush You have selected to force the power of darkness to flee
from the government of this country?
O God…..may we embrace Your plan and not miss it!
You are showing us…..may we see what You are showing….and support and agree
with what You are doing!
We cry out for our President:
Rise up, O LORD, and let Your enemies be scattered.
And let those who hate You flee before You.
Lord, how they have increased who trouble me!
Many are they who rise up against me.
Listen to how they whisper their slander against me, saying:
“Look! He’s hopeless! Even God can’t save him from this!”
But You, O LORD, are a shield about me,
my glory and the One Who lifts my head.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
who have set themselves against me all around.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God!
Rise up and help me, Lord! Come and save me!
For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone!
You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
….breaking the power of their words to harm me…
Salvation belongs to the LORD.
The LORD speaks His promise and hope:
Thus says the LORD to Cyrus, His anointed,
Whom I have taken by the right hand,
To subdue nations before him
And to loose the loins of kings;
To open doors before him so that gates will not be shut;
“I will go before you and make the rough places smooth;
I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars….
So that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you
by your name!….
I AM the LORD, and there is no other!
Besides Me, there is no God…..”
Oh Lord, our God, how we have mistreated Your gift to us.
How we have placed him into distress as we slander and disrespect him.
You have called us to pray for him, to petition You in his behalf, to intercede for him
and to be thankful for him.
Yet, we murmur and complain about everything he does.
Our voices rise as foul odor to you instead of our praises rising as sweet incense.
You inhabit our praises, not our complainings!
Forgive us, O Lord….forgive us.
Return, O LORD, to the myriad thousands of Israel!
