Pruning…. pruning…. the washing and cleansing and cutting away of unnecessary growth,
even though that growth looks good at the time.
Pruning…. only the Vinedresser has the right and the power and the insight to prune.
The hard part is watching Him prune what seems so good to us.
It seems that everything is going well and ministry is flourishing in all directions.
But He prunes.
He prunes.
And we just don’t understand.
Now, there is a choice for us to make.
We can blame Him, be angry and frustrated, let our confidence in Him erode, quit and give up.
Or……
We can read John 15.
John 15?
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser.
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away;
and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.”
What?
He prunes the branches that bear fruit??
Yes….and why does He do this?
The Father is the Vinedresser.
Yeshua is the vine.
The Father sees great potential for you and me…. His branches.
If He leaves us alone, we will eventually put all of our energy into growing more leaves and longer branches.
But if He prunes….
If He prunes away the things that take energy and will end up being a diversion….
If He prunes the fruit-bearing branches….
We will bear more fruit than we ever thought we could.
We will bear more fruit than we ever could imagine.
We will bear more fruit than we ever knew existed.
He is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us.
And as we give…..as we forgive… as we yield….as we are merciful…..so it will be given:
Pressed down, shaken together and running over.
Fruit.
He is after fruit.
And He wants us in on the blessing.
He wants us to bear the fruit…. His fruit…. His luscious fruit.
So, enter into a holy and anointed conversation with your Vinedresser.
Ask many questions with a humble and sweet heart.
Find out what is going on.
And yield, oh beautiful branch, yield to His loving, pruning hand.
And you…. yes, you…. will bear much fruit…. out of the box, amazingly original,
in the center of His will,
limitless and glorious fruit.
It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with Him.
So, rise up oh great and marvelous Vinedresser.
Rise up and scatter your enemies of doubt and unbelief.
Rise up and show us Your wisdom and knowledge and understanding and great love for Your Branches.
Rise up and prune away!
We want to bear the most beautiful fruit in Your Vineyard.
Rise up!
Hallelujah!
