What a privilege it is, O Lord, to hold Your Word in my hands.
When I do, I am holding You.
For You are Your Word…..from the beginning and for all of time and on into eternity.
Your Word has become flesh….and dwelt among us!
It is full of Your glory!
I am undone.
How I cherish this Word, faithful and true, full of wisdom and light and love.
Your Word is Light so brilliant that it shines through any darkness.
There is no way my feet will stumble when they are walking in Your Light.
And Your Word is food to my soul and spirit, sustaining my very life
with sweetness more lovely than honey.
When I call on Your Word and pray it back to You, its power stuns me.
Its life enfolds me.
Its truth enables me.
Its love embraces me.
Its promise encourages me.
Its perfection embarrasses me.
Its timelessness entices me.
Its wisdom enriches me.
Its clarity enlightens me.
Its warmth enfolds me.
Your Word always accomplishes everything that You intend.
It never returns to You void.
Never.
How can I possibly understand the trust You have placed in me
by giving me Your Word?
I remember the times I have been so casual about this Treasure.
Yet, You have not with-held it from me.
You have not removed Your Word from my hands and heart.
You could have.
Perhaps You should have.
But You didn’t.
You waited….patiently….for me to see things Your way.
You are truly amazing, O Lord.
To think that the Great God of all, Creator of the Universe,
the One and Only Living God Who holds all of the power
that there is, the God of the living and not the dead, the
One Who has saved us and Who loves us and Who is
active and alive and long-suffering and glorious and full
of Light and Love and Truth and Wisdom and Power and
Glory and Honor and Mercy and Hope and Promise….
this same God……..
has entrusted me….sinful me….fallen me….redeemed me…
with His heart…..as clearly shown in His Word.
Indeed…..heaven and earth will pass away….but Your Word is eternal.
Your Word was there in all of the beginnings and will be there in all of the endings.
Your Word has gone on into eternity.
Nothing will erase it from being.
Nothing will tarnish it with the filth of the kingdom of darkness.
Your Word shines as an everlasting testimony of the hope and complete control of
Your Mighty Hand.
How can I thank You for this precious gift?
Ahhh…..You have just told me!
It is so simple….even a child can do it.
How could I have missed it?
How can I thank You for this precious gift?
Believe it!
Amen.
