So friends, the 'Elul Zone' is over and we have stepped into the Ten Days of Awe. We welcomed the only Moed or Appointment... Yom Teruah.... on God's Calendar, that starts on the first day of the month...the 7th Biblical month with the sound of Shofars. The 7th month is commonly known as Tishri. We have had some experience with the sounds that the shofar makes and what those sounds are all about: alarm, awake, gathering, the majesty of coronation, war, warning, Jubilee.
Now, we move on the next Moed, Yom Kippur...which will be on the tenth day of Tishri and addresses the courtroom scene of judgment. In Jewish understanding and teaching, Yom Kippur is when the 'Books of Judgement' are closed... and your fate for the following year depends on if your name is written in the Book of Life. Well, my friends, Yeshua says your name is inscribed on His hands.... Isaiah 49:16. Your name has been written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
You know:
- the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world
- the Lamb that Abraham told Isaac, "God will provide Himself the lamb for the burnt offering"
- the Lamb that John the Baptist told those coming to get baptized, "See, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world."
- the Lamb who is LORD of Lords and King of kings
- the Lamb who is the also the scapegoat provided by God
- the Lamb who stayed alive on the cross long enough to absorb all the sin of the world
He will go over it with you one day. Hmmm....
“Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. ‘They will be Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.’”
