SCRIPTURE READING:
Exodus 12: 13-28
Exodus 12: 13-28
Showdown in Egypt.
The night of Passover had come. There are no more tests, no more plagues. It is time to bring this contest to a close. The Pharaoh is about to see his very own words come back on his own head and upon his people. There is only one God. Man cannot conjure up any other, because there is no other. Man either calls upon the One True God or they call upon or apease fallen powers and principalities.
God had relayed this instruction to Pharaoh through His servants - Moses and Aaron: Israel is my son, even my firstborn: And I say unto you, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your son, even your firstborn. Exodus 4: 22-23
Through the previous nine plagues, Pharoah had repeatedly refused to let the Children of Israel go from Egypt. The night of the exit had come. It would be a night to remember for all time.
We will look at The Passover of YHVH explained and instituted. The question is: can Israel’s children follow these directions? We will find out. The directions are explicit, clear, unambiguous. The lives of all the firstborns depend on following them.
God sees Israel as His "firstborn son" and He had come to rescue them. Yeshua is His "only begotten" Son and He gave Him to Israel. Think about that. All of God's family is "adopted" into Israel. He has a Kingdom made up of adopted firstborns....all made possible because of His only-begotten-Son.
We learned last week that Israel is YHVH’s firstborn son. Those who are of that family were going to be required to bring a lamb, keep a lamb, slaughter a lamb, roast a lamb, eat the lamb and be ready to leave quickly. This precedent will be set for all the following generations. They are to remember this night and tell their children in the years to come.
We will talk about:
1. the word - Passover... what it means
2. the Destroyer... who is it
3. the Blood... how it is a sign
