Scripture Reading:
Exodus 8:20-9:35
We have looked at a few of the "gods" of Egypt, including the Pharaoh, himself. The Egyptians believed that their god, Horus, took human form. They thought their Pharaoh was the living and visible god on earth. They saw him as the communicator and peacekeeper between the people and the other 114 gods in their pantheon. They also believed that the Pharaoh was responsible for all the wealth of Egypt and..... all of the world. (We need to remember that when the Children of Israel plunder Egypt!)
We will look at the next four plagues coming upon the Egyptian people and their Pharaoh. More of their gods will be debunked. More importantly, we will look at the heart of Pharaoh and watch it harden. The heart of Leaders affects the outcome of the people whom they lead. It was as true then and it is today.
This is clear evidence of how the God of Israel deals with hearts. We don't want our heart to be hard, or in some state of hardening, as God is doing His work today. Let us remember that it is our "heart" that He is after.
That is the "vocabulary" that we are all familiar with since our childhood in Sunday school: "Give your heart to Jesus." vs. "Your heart belongs to Yeshua" STOP!! What does that mean?
We'll talk about it......
Suffice it to say..... It is always good to remind ourselves that YHVH is God and we are not! He desires to write His Word on our hearts.
